Tracy Nelson, MPH, PhD

Tracy Nelson, associate director of the ColoradoSPH at CSU and a professor in the Department of Health and Exercise Sciences, was featured this week in the campus-wide CSU Source for her work with the Provost’s Council for Engagement. The council is composed of a dozen faculty members from all eight colleges and the Morgan Library who work to advance the recognition and practice of engaged scholarship within CSU’s teaching, research and service mission.

Nelson said that her view of faculty engagement is “listening to the community or society at large. Appreciating the wealth of knowledge that resides there and figuring out ways to mutually help each other to create solutions to societal issues. The best thing about faculty engagement is that the questions are largely driven by the community, so the answers immediately benefit and impact them.”
