CSU Ethics Colloquium to address aging, the politics of blame

November 10, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join Prof. Martha Nussbaum, an internationally renowned philosopher and author of more than 20 books, for the CSU Ethics Colloquium. The event will be Nov. 10 in the Lory Student Center Theater. A 2 p.m. discussion will address aging, stigma and disgust, and at 5 p.m. the topics will be anger, powerlessness and the politics of blame.

Prof. Nussbaum has focused much of her work on issues with broad implications for individuals and society, from the role of emotions in ethical behavior to how a nation’s economic prosperity affects individuals’ capacities. She has considered the experiences of less powerful groups, from religious minorities to women in traditional societies, to examine the role of vulnerability in cultivating an ethical, compassionate society.
