Anna is a veterinary student going into her third year of the Professional Veterinary Medicine program at Colorado State University and will graduate in May 2015. Her MPH degree has helped broaden her perspective of what health means from a population standpoint, as she progresses through her veterinary education. It helps her look at problems through a “One Health” lens, taking into account the ecosystem, sociological factors, politics, and population health—rather than just arriving at a diagnosis given the lab results. After veterinary school, she aims to pursue a PhD program studying infectious disease ecology research on an international level, particularly at the wildlife-human interface.
