Business Administration and Public Health
The College of Business at Colorado State University and the Colorado School of Public Health offer a combined 3-year program of study that results in earning a Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
The MPH and the MBA are both professional graduate degrees, providing applied skills for a competitive workforce. This dual degree program is ideal for students who wish to work in leadership roles within the public health sector, impact public health through corporations, or start their own organization or business. Students will gain breadth and depth in understanding the community context of public health as well as public health best practices, and also gain critical skills in business strategy and management.
Potential career paths for individuals from this dual degree program include:
- Program and Project Manager in healthcare settings
- Director and Associate/Assistant Director level positions with local, national and international public health non-profit organizations and agencies
- Strategy and Planning positions in pharmaceutical companies
- Healthcare consultant
- Chief Epidemiologist
Curricular Structure
Students who apply to the dual degree program will spend their first year in the MPH program. For all curricular plan options, most of the CSU MPH courses are required to be taken in-person at the CSU campus in Fort Collins, CO. For those who may be working professionals, there is a hybrid course structure available, but it does still require a flexible work schedule to be on campus for in-person classes. Students can also spread out their MPH credits over two years if needed (with permission), as long as they maintain active enrollment in fall and spring semesters.
When students transition to the MBA program, they can choose to enter the in-person Evening MBA program (16 months; 3 semesters) or the Online MBA program (fully remote courses; flexible timeline). This allows students to immerse themselves in the MPH curriculum and then either continue with primarily full-time in-person coursework, or potentially seek professional career opportunities while continuing on with the MBA program online.
